Super user friendly. My dog has bigger paws so had to take the protective cover off to do the job. The LED light is very helpful to see where the bloodline ends and my dog stayed pretty calm during the whole time.
My dog enjoys this product. the power of this grinder has 2 levels. not too scare to my dog also enough to do a good job. So 5 stars. Recommended.
I have a 100lb dog. The first day I got the grinder, I left it in the "on" position on the floor next to him for 20 min. He wasn't too sure about the funny vibration it made and eyed it warily. The second day I did the same thing then picked it up, with the cap on, and gently touched it to his haunches so he could feel the vibration. Again he wasn't too sure about it. With the cap on, I picked up his front paw, secured the nail between my 2 fingers and touched the capped grinder to his nail. He looked at me like I was nuts. The entire time I spoke softly and gently to him. I then removed the cap and gently touched the grinder to his nail for only a second. He flinched a little but didn't pull his paw away. I then proceeded to grind only 1 nail in quick gentle strokes. Success!!! No angry dog! I will proceed with each nail a day at a time until he gets used to the feeling. I've attached before picture. The after will come later!
This product works great! My dog actually let me use it on him! I had my doubts, but the noise level is pretty low so that helps. I have an Italian Greyhound Chihuahua mix and he hates getting his nails clipped. In order to do his nails, I have to muzzle him and have another person give him a spoonful of peanut butter while I do his nails. I did it this way with the nail grinder as well, but he did let me do a couple nails even after the peanut butter was gone. It worked quickly; I did all his nails twice (once on low, once on high setting) in the time it took him to finish his peanut butter. They are smoother now and less painful when he scratches me when jumping up at me. He is more willing to let me touch his nails now so I’m hoping the next time I use it will go even easier! I tried doing it from different angles to get the nails more rounded. The light is helpful for seeing the quick.
Works fine but your dog might still not like the feeling
